Specter

ArtLab Gallery

Featuring work by: Rachel Cox, Stephanie Dowda, Ben B Lee, Tommy Nease, Chris Scarborough

Columbus State University Department of Art is pleased to host a curatorial exhibition by Morgan Byrd with the following artists, Rachel Cox, Stephanie Dowda, Ben B Lee, Tommy Nease, and Chris Scarborough.

Specter is a group exhibition focused on artists currently exploring the theme of the supernatural or the loss of life in their work. The philosophies behind spiritualism come from the connections that people share with each other and the connections people have to place. The interest of the artist in exploring the way that the sprit, or the figment of the imagination, lives on after death is important to the strength of the exhibition, but not integral. It is more important that the artist is intrigued by the romance of the ties between two worlds or two times, before and after death. The exhibition will evoke a feeling of timelessness in the way that loss has been, and always will be, a part of life. Specter will have a fantastic quality that explores what remains in relation to the mind’s understanding of death.
