One Glass Eye

Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia

Featuring work by: Chip Simone

Chip Simone, a founding member of Atlanta's photography community, will present work from the past 45 years in a major exhibition entitled "One Glass Eye", a Retrospective . The photographer's career began more than a half century ago in the film based 1960's as a student of renowned photographer Harry Callahan at The Rhode Island School of Design. His most recent work embraces the digital technology of today and integrates it with the considerations of his earlier work to produce images that combine the traditional concerns of photography in the 20th century with the expressive potential of photography in the 21st.

Chip, recipient of a Photography Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts, has work in several significant collections, including The High Museum of Art, The Houston MFA, The Museum of Modern Art, MOCAGA, and the Sir Elton John Photography Collection. Two books of his photographs have been published. In 2016 he curated "Edge to Edge" for MOCA GA, the first statewide survey of contemporary photography in Georgia.
