Design by Nature

Lumiere

Featuring work by: Tim Barnwell, Robert Glenn Ketchum, Diane Kirkland

Design principles influence all systems…animate and inanimate....constantly in motion to find equilibrium with their environments. The images in this exhibition are recordings of the effects of thousands of years of change. They are scenes from a motion picture….a snapshot in time.

Design by Nature features three master photographers. Diane Kirkland, Tim Barnwell and Robert Glenn Ketchum have spent decades understanding their environments. From the Marshes of Glynn in Georgia to the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina to the raw and diverse majesty of Alaska.

Their photography is complemented by the sculpture of David Hayes-a Guggenheim Fellow and Fulbright Scholar whose natural designs have been presented in over 300 exhibitions.

The exhibition was curated to complement one currently open at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History of Peter Essick’s photographs of the Fernbank Forest. It was commissioned and curated by Lumière. Essick has created 44 featured pieces for National Geographic including one on The Ansel Adams Wilderness.

The artist's talk on Sept. 16th will be with Robert Glenn Ketchum.
