Ansel Adams: The Masterworks

Booth Western Art Museum

Featuring work by: Ansel Adams

In 2010, Booth Western Art Museum hosted Ansel Adams: A Legacy. A milestone exhibition at the time for the Booth in both attendance as well as establishing creative photography as an important aspect of the Museum’s ongoing programming, including the creation of the Booth Photography Guild. In 2015, Booth Museum built on that momentum with Ansel Adams: Before & After, an exhibition that broke all previous attendance and review records.

Booth Western Art Museum has acknowledged the growth and importance of photography as a fine art medium with the opening of a new permanent photography gallery, Picturing America. This gallery will seek to present American landscapes, history, and culture through fine art and documentary photography.

In conjunction with the opening of the Picturing America Gallery, Booth Museum is excited to present Ansel Adams: The Masterworks, an exhibition showcasing 30 photographs from an edition known as The Museum Set – images hand selected, printed, and signed by Adams himself. Exhibited together for the first time ever, these images are loaned from the personal collection of Virginia Adams Mayhew, Ansel’s granddaughter.
